If photography is your hobby, or you are an enthusiastic beginner you are welcome to join us.

The Costa Del Sol Photographic Society was originally formed in 2002 and was the first English speaking photographic group in Spain. It is registered in Andalucia as a non profit making association..

The society meets fortnightly for photo workshops and shoots, with outings arranged locally and to far off places of interest to the keen photographer.

The aims and objectives of the society are to promote photography in all it’s forms in the coastal area of Andalucia.

Membership is open to all including those who are resident in other countries and people who may only be on the coast for a limited time.

Image Group

Tuesday 21st February.

The Image Group will next meet on Tuesday 21st February at 11.00am at our usual venue the Virgin Del Carmen Church Rooms, Bonanza Square, Benalmadena.

The image group is open to all members and specialises in advanced techniques in all aspects of photography including Photoshop.

What’s on the Members Page

The Costa Del Sol Photographic Society is a registered association run by its members and must at all times be totally transparent.

The Members Only section is accessible to all fully paid up members and contains a monthly statement of accounts plus all decisions and ideas from the elected committee. It is also a forum for the members to decide on events and the format for the future.

Based on this information the committee ensures that the Society always runs in a democratic way providing the membership with the Society that caters for its members and remains an enjoyable group to belong to.

More About The Battle

The idea of a battle between clubs was initiated by Ken Arnold and the first took place between us and the Nerja Photo Club on our home ground in 2011. The good news – we won.

Each club is asked to submit 15 mounted prints which are judged by independent professional photographers who have no connections with any of the clubs taking part. When the judging takes place the photos are only identified by numbers. On the day the judges award points out of 20 to each print and give their reasons for the scores allocated. At the end, the photos are identified to each club and the one with the highest score wins.

In our case, Ken Arnold ARPS, asks all club members to submit as many photos as they like so he, with the help of some of our more experienced photographers can decide on the final 15 to represent the Society. Not an easy task. As an experienced circuit judge in the UK, Ken has the very difficult job of not only choosing the best of many superb photos but also to decide on the mix of subjects which will hopefully appeal to the judges choice. We don’t envy you that Ken but last time you got it right, and we know that you are going to do it again for 2012. Many thanks from us all.

Nerja Battle

This year the Nerja Photo Club is hosting the battle which last year we won. More difficult for us this year as we now have another club, Elle Vale Photo Group taking part, so more competition.

The event will take place on Thursday 23rd February at the Boat Yard Bar on the Playatho Beach, Nerja at 11.00am.

All members and friends are welcome to attend the event on the day. The Society has also arranged a 2 night hotel stay (22nd and 23rd) to include breakfast for just €96 per couple. If you are interested in this superb deal please contact us on photoclubspain@gmail.com
